﴿يَٰمَعۡشَرَ ٱلۡجِنِّ وَٱلۡإِنسِ أَلَمۡ يَأۡتِكُمۡ رُسُلٞ مِّنكُمۡ يَقُصُّونَ عَلَيۡكُمۡ ءَايَٰتِي وَيُنذِرُونَكُمۡ لِقَآءَ يَوۡمِكُمۡ هَٰذَاۚ قَالُواْ شَهِدۡنَا عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِنَاۖ وَغَرَّتۡهُمُ ٱلۡحَيَوٰةُ ٱلدُّنۡيَا وَشَهِدُواْ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِمۡ أَنَّهُمۡ كَانُواْ كَٰفِرِينَ ﴾
[الأنعَام: 130]
﴿يامعشر الجن والإنس ألم يأتكم رسل منكم يقصون عليكم آياتي وينذرونكم لقاء﴾ [الأنعَام: 130]
| Dr Kamal Omar O assembly of jinns and mankind! Did not (there) come to you Messengers from amongst you reproducing unto you My Ayaat and warning you about the meeting of this Day of yours?” They said: “We bore witness against ourselves,” and the worldly life bewitched them and they gave evidence against their ownselves that they had been disbelievers |
| Dr Laleh Bakhtiar O assembly of jinn and humankind! Approach not Messengers from among yourselves relating to you My signs, and warning you of the meeting of this, your Day? They said: We bore witness against ourselves. This present life deluded them and they bore witness against themselves that they had been ones who are ungrateful |
| Dr Munir Munshey (Allah will say), "Oh the species of jinn and humans! Had the messengers from among your own kind not come to you? And (did they not) recite to you My revelations, and warn you about the meeting of this very day?" They will say, "(Yes, and) we bear witness against ourselves." The life of this world deceived them, and they will bear witness that they were indeed the unbelievers |
| Edward Henry Palmer O assembly of ginns and men! did there not come to you apostles from among yourselves, relating to you our signs, and warning you of the meeting of this very day of yours? They say, 'We bear witness against ourselves.' The life of this world deceived them, and they bear witness against themselves that they were unbelievers |
| Farook Malik At that time Allah will also ask: "O Assembly of Jinns and mankind! Did not there come to you the Messengers from amongst you who proclaimed to you My revelations and warned you about the meeting of this Day?" They will reply: "Yes they did, We bear witness against our own souls." Today this worldly life has deceived them but on that Day they will testify against themselves that they were indeed kuffar (unbelievers) |
| George Sale O company of genii and men, did not messengers from among your selves come unto you, rehearsing my signs unto you, and forewarning you of the meeting of this your day? They shall answer, we bear witness against our selves: The present life deceived them: And they shall bear witness against themselves that they were unbelievers |
| Maududi (Then Allah will also ask them): ´O assembly of jinn and men! Did there not come to y ou Messengers from among yourselves, relating to you My signs, and warning you of the encounter of this your Day (of Judgement)?´ They will say: ´Yes, we bear witness against ourselves.´ They have been deluded by the life of this world, and they will bear witness against themselves that they had disbelieved |
