Dr Kamal Omar And do not approach the orphan’s property (with any bad intention) except with such (that) it is better and more sincere until (the orphan) reaches his full strength; and correctly weigh the weight and the measure with justice. We burden not any Nafs except to her capacity. And when you gave a statement, then you stick to justice even if (the accused) happened to be (your) near relative and be fully sincere with the covenant of Allah (to which a person is attached if he or she is a Muslim). This (is something) He advised you about this, so that you may remind and be reminded |
Dr Laleh Bakhtiar And come not near the property of the orphan but with what is fairer until one reaches the coming of age. And live up to the full measure and balance with equity. We will not place a burden on any soul, but to its capacity. And when you said something, be just, even if it had been with possessors of kinship and live up to the compact of God. Thus, He charged you with it so that perhaps you will recollect |
Dr Munir Munshey Do not touch the assets of an orphan till he comes of age, except with worthy and venerable intentions. (Be just), fill the measure to its full and weigh accurately. We do not burden anyone beyond his capacity to bear. Be just when you say anything _ (bear witness or pass judgment) _ even if it involves your own kin. Fulfil the pledges you make with Allah (or in His name). That, He has instructed you. Perhaps, you would bear in mind |
Edward Henry Palmer And draw not nigh unto the wealth of the orphan, save so as to better it, until he reaches full age; and give weight and measure with justice. We do not compel the soul save what it can compass; and when ye pronounce, then be just, though it be in the case of a relative |
Farook Malik Furthermore, not to go near the property of an orphan except in the best way (to improve it), until he attains maturity. Give full measure and just weight - We never charge a soul with more than it can bear. Whenever you speak, be just, even if it affects your own relatives, and fulfill your covenant with Allah. These are the things which He has enjoined on you so that you may be mindful |
George Sale And meddle not with the substance of the orphan, otherwise than for the improving thereof, until he attain his age of strength; and use a full measure, and a just balance. We will not impose a task on any soul, beyond its ability. And when ye pronounce judgement observe justice, although it be for or against one who is near of kin, and fulfill the covenant of God. This hath God commanded you, that ye may be admonished |
Maududi (vi) and do not even draw near to the property of the orphan in his minority except in the best |
