﴿قُلۡ أَغَيۡرَ ٱللَّهِ أَبۡغِي رَبّٗا وَهُوَ رَبُّ كُلِّ شَيۡءٖۚ وَلَا تَكۡسِبُ كُلُّ نَفۡسٍ إِلَّا عَلَيۡهَاۚ وَلَا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٞ وِزۡرَ أُخۡرَىٰۚ ثُمَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكُم مَّرۡجِعُكُمۡ فَيُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمۡ فِيهِ تَخۡتَلِفُونَ ﴾
[الأنعَام: 164]
﴿قل أغير الله أبغي ربا وهو رب كل شيء ولا تكسب كل﴾ [الأنعَام: 164]
Dr Kamal Omar Say: “Shall I seek a nourisher-sustainer other than Allah while He is Nourisher-Sustainer to all things? And no Nafs earns (as evil any thing) except against her self. And does not carry the burden, any bearer of burdens, the burden of another. Then unto your Nourisher-Sustainer is your return, so He will inform you about that wherein you have been differing |
Dr Laleh Bakhtiar Say: Is it other than God that I should desire as a lord while He is Lord of everything? And each soul will earn only for itself. No burdened soul will bear another’s heavy load. Again, to your Lord will you return. Then, He will tell you about what you had been at variance in it |
Dr Munir Munshey Say, "Shall I look for another Lord for you besides Allah, even though He is the Lord of every single thing? Each one is personally responsible for every sin he commits. No one shall bear (or share) the burden (of sin) for anyone else. Towards your Lord is your final destination. At that time, He will inform you about everything you used to dispute |
Edward Henry Palmer Say, 'Other than God shall I crave for a Lord when He is Lord of all?' but no soul shall earn aught save against itself; nor shall one bearing a burden bear the burden of another; and then unto your Lord is your return, and He will inform you concerning that whereon ye do dispute |
Farook Malik Say: "Should I seek another Lord besides Allah when He is the Lord of everything?" Every soul will reap the fruits of its own deeds; no bearer of burdens shall bear the burden of another. Ultimately you will return to your Lord, and He will resolve for you your disputes |
George Sale Say, shall I desire any other Lord besides God? Since He is the Lord of all things; and no soul shall acquire any merits or demerits but for itself; and no burdened soul shall bear the burden of another. Moreover unto your Lord shall ye return; and He shall declare unto you that concerning which ye now dispute |
Maududi Say: ´Shall I seek someone other than Allah as Lord when He is the Lord of everything?´ Everyone will bear the consequence of what he does, and no one shall bear the burden of another. Thereafter, your return will be to your Lord, whereupon He will let you know what you disagreed about |
