﴿فَوَسۡوَسَ لَهُمَا ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنُ لِيُبۡدِيَ لَهُمَا مَا وُۥرِيَ عَنۡهُمَا مِن سَوۡءَٰتِهِمَا وَقَالَ مَا نَهَىٰكُمَا رَبُّكُمَا عَنۡ هَٰذِهِ ٱلشَّجَرَةِ إِلَّآ أَن تَكُونَا مَلَكَيۡنِ أَوۡ تَكُونَا مِنَ ٱلۡخَٰلِدِينَ ﴾
[الأعرَاف: 20]
﴿فوسوس لهما الشيطان ليبدي لهما ما ووري عنهما من سوآتهما وقال ما﴾ [الأعرَاف: 20]
| Dr Kamal Omar Then Satan whispered undesirable suggestions to them both, so that he may uncover over them what was kept hidden to both of them out of the bodies of these two. And (Satan) said: “The Nourisher-Sustainer of you two has not stopped you two from this particular tree except that you two be two angels or you two be of those who are immortals.” |
| Dr Laleh Bakhtiar And Satan whispered evil to them both to show them both what was kept secret from them both—their intimate parts. And he said: The Lord of both of you prohibited you both from this tree so that neither of you be angels nor be ones who will dwell forever |
| Dr Munir Munshey But Shaitan whispered doubts to both of them. He wanted to expose their nakedness to them, which was kept hidden from them. He said (to them), "Your Lord forbade you (the fruit of) this tree, so you would not turn into angels or become immortal |
| Edward Henry Palmer But Satan whispered to them to display to them what was kept back from them of their shame, and he said, 'Your Lord has only forbidden you this tree lest ye should be twain angels, or should become of the immortals |
| Farook Malik But Satan tempted them so that he might reveal to them the private parts of their bodies which they had never seen before. He told them: "Your Lord has forbidden you to approach this tree only to prevent you from becoming angels or immortals |
| George Sale And Satan suggested to them both, that he would discover unto them their nakedness, which was hidden from them; and he said, your Lord hath not forbidden you this tree, for any other reason but lest ye should become angels, or lest ye become immortal |
| Maududi But Satan made an evil suggestion to both of them that he might reveal to them their shame that had remained hidden from them. He said: ´Your Lord has forbidden you to approach this tree only to prevent you from becoming angels or immortals.´ |
