﴿إِذۡ يُرِيكَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ فِي مَنَامِكَ قَلِيلٗاۖ وَلَوۡ أَرَىٰكَهُمۡ كَثِيرٗا لَّفَشِلۡتُمۡ وَلَتَنَٰزَعۡتُمۡ فِي ٱلۡأَمۡرِ وَلَٰكِنَّ ٱللَّهَ سَلَّمَۚ إِنَّهُۥ عَلِيمُۢ بِذَاتِ ٱلصُّدُورِ ﴾
[الأنفَال: 43]
﴿إذ يريكهم الله في منامك قليلا ولو أراكهم كثيرا لفشلتم ولتنازعتم في﴾ [الأنفَال: 43]
| Dr Kamal Omar When Allah showed them to you, during your sleep, as a small (military force), and if He had shown them to you as a large (military contingent), you would surely have been discouraged, and you would surely have disputed in (mahead of state a) decision. But Allah saved (the situation). Certainly He is All-Aware about the state of the (hearts in the) chests |
| Dr Laleh Bakhtiar Mention when God causes thee to see them as few in thy slumbering. If He caused thee to see them as many, you would have lost heart and contended with one another about the command except God saved you. Truly, He is Knowing of what is in the breasts |

| Maududi And recall when Allah showed them to you in your dream to be few in number. And had He showed them to you to be numerous, you would have flagged and disagreed with one another about fighting them. But Allah saved you. Surely Allah knows what is hidden in the breasts |
