Yet they have been commanded to worship no one but Allah and Him alone to revere, and to be true exclusively to the Faith and renounce idolatry, to impel themselves to freedom from dissimulation and to be sincere and to observe prayers and pay alms- Such is the religion approved by Allah and its path leads mankind to wisdom and piety, and induces them to discharge the duties naturally owed to Him

Dr Kamal Omar
And they were commanded not, but that they should pay obedience to Allah as those who keep pure, unto Him the Religion (as) Unitarians; and they should establish As-Salat and they should pay-up Az-Zakat — since this (had been) the Established Religion
Dr Laleh Bakhtiar
They were commanded but to worship God as ones who are sincere and devoted in the way of life to Him, as monotheists and they perform the formal prayer and they give the purifying alms. That is the truth-loving way of life
Dr Munir Munshey
What they were commanded was to worship only Allah with sincerity and exclusive devotion; and to worship nothing and nobody else with Him. (They were ordered) to establish ´salat´, and to pay the ´zakat´. That is truly the stable (and established) religion
Edward Henry Palmer
But they were not bidden aught but to worship God, being sincere in religion unto Him as Hanifs, and to be steadfast in prayer, and to give alms: for that is the standard religion
Farook Malik
Yet they were commanded nothing but to worship Allah, with their sincere devotion to Him, being True in their faith; to establish Salah ( prayers); and to pay Zakah (compulsory charity); and that is the infallible true Religion
George Sale
And they were commanded no other in the scriptures than to worship God, exhibiting unto him the pure religion, and being orthodox; and to be constant at prayer, and to give alms: And this is the right religion
Maududi
Yet all that they had been commanded was that they serve Allah, with utter sincerity, devoting themselves exclusively to Him, and that they establish Prayer and pay Zakah. That is the Right Faith
