Quran with British translation - Surah Al-Qasas ayat 45 - القَصَص - Page - Juz 20
﴿وَلَٰكِنَّآ أَنشَأۡنَا قُرُونٗا فَتَطَاوَلَ عَلَيۡهِمُ ٱلۡعُمُرُۚ وَمَا كُنتَ ثَاوِيٗا فِيٓ أَهۡلِ مَدۡيَنَ تَتۡلُواْ عَلَيۡهِمۡ ءَايَٰتِنَا وَلَٰكِنَّا كُنَّا مُرۡسِلِينَ ﴾
[القَصَص: 45]
﴿ولكنا أنشأنا قرونا فتطاول عليهم العمر وما كنت ثاويا في أهل مدين﴾ [القَصَص: 45]
| Mohammad Habib Shakir But We raised up generations, then life became prolonged to them; and you were not dwelling among the people of Madyan, reciting to them Our communications, but We were the senders |
| Mohammad Shafi But (between Moses' time and yours, O Muhammad!) We grew many generations, and the age prolonged over them. And you were not a dweller among the people of Midian reciting to them Our Verses, but We kept on sending other Messengers to those generations |
| Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall But We brought forth generations, and their lives dragged on for them. And thou wast not a dweller in Midian, reciting unto them Our revelations, but We kept sending (messengers to men) |

| Muhammad Asad nay, but [between them and thee] We brought into being [many] generations, and long was their span of life. And neither didst thou dwell among the people of Madyan, conveying Our messages unto them: nay, but We have [always] been sending [Our message-bearers unto man] |
