Quran with British translation - Surah Al-Mujadilah ayat 16 - المُجَادلة - Page - Juz 28
﴿ٱتَّخَذُوٓاْ أَيۡمَٰنَهُمۡ جُنَّةٗ فَصَدُّواْ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ فَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٞ مُّهِينٞ ﴾
[المُجَادلة: 16]
﴿اتخذوا أيمانهم جنة فصدوا عن سبيل الله فلهم عذاب مهين﴾ [المُجَادلة: 16]
| Mohammad Habib Shakir They make their oaths to serve as a cover so they turn away from Allah's way; therefore they shall have an abasing chastisement |
| Mohammad Shafi They take their oaths as their shelter and turn others away from Allah's Path. So then they shall have a disgraceful punishment |
| Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall They make a shelter of their oaths and turn (men) from the way of Allah; so theirs will be a shameful doom |
| Mufti Taqi Usmani They have taken their oaths as a shield, and then have prevented (people) from the way of Allah. Therefore, for them there is a humiliating punishment |
| Muhammad Asad they have made their oaths a cover [for their falseness], and thus they turn others away from the path of God: hence, shameful suffering awaits them |
