Quran with English translation - Surah Al-Mujadilah ayat 16 - المُجَادلة - Page - Juz 28
﴿ٱتَّخَذُوٓاْ أَيۡمَٰنَهُمۡ جُنَّةٗ فَصَدُّواْ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ فَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٞ مُّهِينٞ ﴾
[المُجَادلة: 16]
﴿اتخذوا أيمانهم جنة فصدوا عن سبيل الله فلهم عذاب مهين﴾ [المُجَادلة: 16]
Al Bilal Muhammad Et Al They have made their promises a screen. So they obstruct the people from the path of God. Therefore they will have a crushing penalty |
Ali Bakhtiari Nejad They took their oath as a shield to obstruct (people) from God's way, so they have a humiliating punishment |
Ali Quli Qarai They make a shield of their oaths and bar [people] from the way of Allah; so there is a humiliating punishment for them |
Ali Unal They take their oaths as a covering (to screen their misdeeds and themselves from accusation), and bar (people) from God’s way. Therefore there is for them a humiliating punishment |
Hamid S Aziz They make their oaths to serve as a cover so they turn away from Allah´s way; therefore they shall have a shameful doom |
John Medows Rodwell They make a cloak of their faith, and turn others aside from the way of God: wherefore a shameful torment awaiteth them |
Literal They took their rights/oaths (as) a cover (shield), so they prevented/obstructed from God`s way/path , so for them (is) a humiliating/degrading torture |
Mir Anees Original They take their oaths as a shelter (for their evil) and turn away (people) from the way of Allah, therefore, there will be a disgraceful punishment for them |
