﴿سَيَقُولُ لَكَ ٱلۡمُخَلَّفُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡأَعۡرَابِ شَغَلَتۡنَآ أَمۡوَٰلُنَا وَأَهۡلُونَا فَٱسۡتَغۡفِرۡ لَنَاۚ يَقُولُونَ بِأَلۡسِنَتِهِم مَّا لَيۡسَ فِي قُلُوبِهِمۡۚ قُلۡ فَمَن يَمۡلِكُ لَكُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ شَيۡـًٔا إِنۡ أَرَادَ بِكُمۡ ضَرًّا أَوۡ أَرَادَ بِكُمۡ نَفۡعَۢاۚ بَلۡ كَانَ ٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ خَبِيرَۢا ﴾
[الفَتح: 11]
﴿سيقول لك المخلفون من الأعراب شغلتنا أموالنا وأهلونا فاستغفر لنا يقولون بألسنتهم﴾ [الفَتح: 11]
Al Bilal Muhammad Et Al The desert Arabs who lagged behind will say to you, “We were engaged in looking after our flocks and herds, and our families. Can you then ask forgiveness for us?” They say with their tongues what is not in their hearts. Say, “Who then has any power to intervene on your behalf with God, if His will is to give you some loss or to give you some profit? No, for God is well acquainted with all that you do |
Ali Bakhtiari Nejad The desert Arabs who stayed behind are going to say to you: our possessions and our families kept us busy, so ask forgiveness for us. They say with their tongues that which is not in their hearts. Say: who has any power for you against God, if He wants any harm for you or He wants any benefit for you? But God is well informed of what you do |
Ali Quli Qarai The Bedouins who had stayed back [from joining the Prophet in his ‘umrah journey to Makkah] will tell you, ‘Our possessions and families kept us occupied. So plead [to Allah] for our forgiveness!’ They will say with their tongues what is not in their hearts. Say, ‘Whether He desires to cause you harm or desires to bring you benefit, who can be of any avail to you against Allah[’s will]? Indeed Allah is well aware of what you do.’ |

Literal The remaining behind from the Arabs will say to you: "Our properties/wealths and our families/relations preoccupied/distracted us , so ask for forgiveness for us." They say with their tongues what (is) not in their hearts/minds , say: "So who owns/possesses for you from God a thing, if He willed/wanted/intended harm with (for) you, or He willed/wanted/intended with (for) you benefit/usefulness? But God was/is with what you make/do an expert/experienced |
