﴿يَوۡمَ تَرَوۡنَهَا تَذۡهَلُ كُلُّ مُرۡضِعَةٍ عَمَّآ أَرۡضَعَتۡ وَتَضَعُ كُلُّ ذَاتِ حَمۡلٍ حَمۡلَهَا وَتَرَى ٱلنَّاسَ سُكَٰرَىٰ وَمَا هُم بِسُكَٰرَىٰ وَلَٰكِنَّ عَذَابَ ٱللَّهِ شَدِيدٞ ﴾
[الحج: 2]
﴿يوم ترونها تذهل كل مرضعة عما أرضعت وتضع كل ذات حمل حملها﴾ [الحج: 2]
| Abdel Haleem on the Day you see it, every nursing mother will think no more of her baby, every pregnant female will miscarry, you will think people are drunk when they are not, so severe will be God’s torment |
| Abdul Hye On that Day, you shall see that every nursing (mother) will forget her nursing, every pregnant woman will drop her load (miscarriage), and you will see people as if in a drunken state, yet they will not be drunken; but the punishment of Allah will be severe |
| Abdullah Yusuf Ali The Day ye shall see it, every mother giving suck shall forget her suckling-babe, and every pregnant female shall drop her load (unformed): thou shalt see mankind as in a drunken riot, yet not drunk: but dreadful will be the Wrath of Allah |
