﴿لَّوۡلَآ إِذۡ سَمِعۡتُمُوهُ ظَنَّ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَ وَٱلۡمُؤۡمِنَٰتُ بِأَنفُسِهِمۡ خَيۡرٗا وَقَالُواْ هَٰذَآ إِفۡكٞ مُّبِينٞ ﴾
[النور: 12]
﴿لولا إذ سمعتموه ظن المؤمنون والمؤمنات بأنفسهم خيرا وقالوا هذا إفك مبين﴾ [النور: 12]
Abdel Haleem When you heard the lie, why did believing men and women not think well of their own people and declare, ‘This is obviously a lie’ |
Abdul Hye Why then, when you heard it (the slander), did not the believing men and believing women of their own people think good and say: “This (charge) is an obvious lie?” |
