﴿وَإِذۡ أَخَذَ ٱللَّهُ مِيثَٰقَ ٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَ لَمَآ ءَاتَيۡتُكُم مِّن كِتَٰبٖ وَحِكۡمَةٖ ثُمَّ جَآءَكُمۡ رَسُولٞ مُّصَدِّقٞ لِّمَا مَعَكُمۡ لَتُؤۡمِنُنَّ بِهِۦ وَلَتَنصُرُنَّهُۥۚ قَالَ ءَأَقۡرَرۡتُمۡ وَأَخَذۡتُمۡ عَلَىٰ ذَٰلِكُمۡ إِصۡرِيۖ قَالُوٓاْ أَقۡرَرۡنَاۚ قَالَ فَٱشۡهَدُواْ وَأَنَا۠ مَعَكُم مِّنَ ٱلشَّٰهِدِينَ ﴾
[آل عِمران: 81]
﴿وإذ أخذ الله ميثاق النبيين لما آتيتكم من كتاب وحكمة ثم جاءكم﴾ [آل عِمران: 81]
| Abdel Haleem God took a pledge from the prophets, saying, ‘If, after I have bestowed Scripture and wisdom upon you, a messenger comes confirming what you have been given, you must believe in him and support him. Do you affirm this and accept My pledge as binding on you?’ They said, ‘We do.’ He said, ‘Then bear witness and I too will bear witness.’ |
| Abdul Hye And (remember) when Allah took the Covenant of the prophets, saying: “Whatever I gave you of the Book and Wisdom, there will come to you a Messenger (Muhammad) confirming what is with you; you must then believe in him and you must help him.” Allah said: “Do you agree and do you take on My Covenant?” They said: “We agree.” He said: “Then bear witness; and I am with you among the witnesses.” |
| Abdullah Yusuf Ali Behold! Allah took the covenant of the prophets, saying: "I give you a Book and Wisdom; then comes to you a messenger, confirming what is with you; do ye believe in him and render him help." Allah said: "Do ye agree, and take this my Covenant as binding on you?" They said: "We agree." He said: "Then bear witness, and I am with you among the witnesses |
| Abdul Majid Daryabadi And recall what time Allah took a bond from the prophets saying whatever I vouchsafed unto you of Book and Wisdom, end, thereafter there cometh unto you an apostle confessing to that which is with you, ye shall surely believe in him and succour him. He said: assent ye, and take ye My burthen thereunto They said: we assent. He said: then bear Witness, and I, with you among the witnesses |

| Aisha Bewley Remember when Allah made a covenant with the Prophets: ´Now that We have given you a share of the Book and Wisdom, and then a Messenger comes to you confirming what is with you, you must have iman in him and help him.´ He asked, ´Do you agree and undertake My commission on that condition?´ They replied, ´We agree.´ He said, ´Bear witness, then. I am with you as one of the witnesses.´ |

| Ali Quli Qarai When Allah took a compact concerning the prophets, [He said,] ‘Inasmuch as I have given you of the Book and wisdom, should an apostle come to you thereafter confirming what is with you, you shall believe in him and help him.’ He said, ‘Do you pledge and accept My covenant on this condition?’ They said, ‘We pledge.’ He said, ‘Then be witnesses, and I am also among the witnesses along with you.’ |
