﴿وَإِذَا تُتۡلَىٰ عَلَيۡهِ ءَايَٰتُنَا وَلَّىٰ مُسۡتَكۡبِرٗا كَأَن لَّمۡ يَسۡمَعۡهَا كَأَنَّ فِيٓ أُذُنَيۡهِ وَقۡرٗاۖ فَبَشِّرۡهُ بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ ﴾
[لُقمَان: 7]
﴿وإذا تتلى عليه آياتنا ولى مستكبرا كأن لم يسمعها كأن في أذنيه﴾ [لُقمَان: 7]
Abdel Haleem When Our verses are recited to him, he turns away disdainfully as if he had not heard them, as if there were heaviness in his ears. Tell him that there will be a painful torment |
Abdul Hye And when Our Verses (of the Qur’an) are recited to such people, they turn away in pride, as if they did not hear them, as if there is deafness in their ear. So announce to them a painful punishment |
Abdullah Yusuf Ali When Our Signs are rehearsed to such a one, he turns away in arrogance, as if he heard them not, as if there were deafness in both his ears: announce to him a grievous Penalty |
Abdul Majid Daryabadi And when Our revelations are recited unto him he turneth away in his stiff-neckedness as though he heard them not: as though there was a deafness in his ears. So announce thou unto him a torment afflictive |
