﴿ٱتَّخَذُوٓاْ أَيۡمَٰنَهُمۡ جُنَّةٗ فَصَدُّواْ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ فَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٞ مُّهِينٞ ﴾
[المُجَادلة: 16]
﴿اتخذوا أيمانهم جنة فصدوا عن سبيل الله فلهم عذاب مهين﴾ [المُجَادلة: 16]
| Abdel Haleem They have used their oaths to cover up [their false deeds], and barred others from the path of God. A humiliating torment awaits them |
| Abdul Hye They have taken their oaths as shields (for their evil actions). Thus they hinder people from the Way of Allah. They shall have a humiliating punishment |
| Abdullah Yusuf Ali They have made their oaths a screen (for their misdeeds): thus they obstruct (men) from the Path of Allah: therefore shall they have a humiliating Penalty |
| Abdul Majid Daryabadi They have taken their oaths as a shield, and they have hindered others from the way of Allah; wherefore theirs shall be a torment ignominious |
| Ahmed Ali They have made their oaths a shield, and obstruct people from the way of God. There is shameful punishment for them |
| Aisha Bewley They made their oaths into a cloak and barred the Way of Allah, so they will have a humiliating punishment |
