﴿وَيَعۡبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا يَضُرُّهُمۡ وَلَا يَنفَعُهُمۡ وَيَقُولُونَ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ شُفَعَٰٓؤُنَا عِندَ ٱللَّهِۚ قُلۡ أَتُنَبِّـُٔونَ ٱللَّهَ بِمَا لَا يَعۡلَمُ فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَلَا فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ سُبۡحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ عَمَّا يُشۡرِكُونَ ﴾
[يُونس: 18]
﴿ويعبدون من دون الله ما لا يضرهم ولا ينفعهم ويقولون هؤلاء شفعاؤنا﴾ [يُونس: 18]
| Dr Kamal Omar And they obey besides Allah that hurts them not, nor gives them (any) profit and they say: “All these are intercessors to us unto Allah.” Say: “Do you inform Allah of that which He knows not in the heavens, and nor on the earth? He became glorified and became very High in comparison to what they assign as partners (to Him) |
| Dr Laleh Bakhtiar And they worship other than God things that injure them not, nor profit them. And they say: These are our intercessors with God. Say: Are you telling God of what He knows not in the heavens nor in and on the earth? Glory be to Him and exalted is He above partners they ascribe |
| Dr Munir Munshey They worship, besides Allah, those who could not inflict any harm upon them, nor grant them any benefits. They say, "They will intercede (on our behalf) with Allah." Say, "Are you telling Allah that? Is it something He is not aware of in the heavens and the earth?" He is exalted and far above all that they are ascribing |
| Edward Henry Palmer They worship beside God what can neither harm them nor profit them, and they say, 'These are our intercessors with God!' Say, 'Will ye inform God of aught in the heavens or the earth, that He knows not of?' Celebrated be His praise! and exalted be He, above what they associate with Him |
| Farook Malik They worship other deities besides Allah, who can neither harm them nor benefit them, and they say: "These are our intercessors with Allah." O Muhammad, say to them: "Are you informing Allah of what He knows to exist neither in the heavens nor on the earth? Glory to Him! He is far above from having the partners they ascribe to Him |
| George Sale They worship besides God, that which can neither hurt them nor profit them, and they say, these are our intercessors with God. Answer, will ye tell God that which He knoweth not, neither in heaven nor in earth? Praise be unto Him! And far be that from Him, which they associate with Him |
| Maududi They worship, beside Allah, those who can neither harm nor profit them, saying; `These are our intercessors with Allah.` Tell them (O Muhammad): `Do you inform Allah of something regarding whose existence in the heavens or on the earth He has no knowledge? Holy is He and He is exalted far above what they associate with Him in His divinity |
