﴿ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمُ ٱسۡتَحَبُّواْ ٱلۡحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنۡيَا عَلَى ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَهۡدِي ٱلۡقَوۡمَ ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ ﴾
[النَّحل: 107]
﴿ذلك بأنهم استحبوا الحياة الدنيا على الآخرة وأن الله لا يهدي القوم﴾ [النَّحل: 107]
| Dr Kamal Omar That is because they loved and preferred the life of this world over the Hereafter. And surely Allah guides not the nation of disbelievers |
| Dr Laleh Bakhtiar That is because they embraced this present life instead of the world to come. And God guides not the folk, the ones who disbelieve |
| Dr Munir Munshey Because they prefer the life of this world to that of the afterlife! Allah does not guide the nation of unbelievers |
| Edward Henry Palmer That is because they preferred the love of this world's life to the next;- but, verily, God guides not the unbelieving people |
| Farook Malik This is because such people love the life of this world more than the hereafter, and that Allah does not guide those who knowingly reject faith |
| George Sale This shall be their sentence, because they have loved the present life above that which is to come, and for that God directeth not the unbelieving people |
| Maududi That is because they love the life of this world more than the Hereafter; and Allah does not guide those who are ungrateful to Allah for His favours |
