﴿أَفَأَمِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ مَكَرُواْ ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ أَن يَخۡسِفَ ٱللَّهُ بِهِمُ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ أَوۡ يَأۡتِيَهُمُ ٱلۡعَذَابُ مِنۡ حَيۡثُ لَا يَشۡعُرُونَ ﴾
[النَّحل: 45]
﴿أفأمن الذين مكروا السيئات أن يخسف الله بهم الأرض أو يأتيهم العذاب﴾ [النَّحل: 45]
| Dr Kamal Omar Have they then felt secure who have plotted evils that Allah may cause the (piece of) earth sink along with them, or the punishment may come to them from the sites and directions they perceive not |

| Dr Munir Munshey While playing their dirty tricks, do they not worry that Allah might make the ground swallow them, or that the punishment may pounce on them from an unexpected source |

| Maududi Do those who have been devising evil plans (against the mission of the Messenger) feel secure that Allah will not cause the earth to swallow them up or that chastisement will not come upon them from a direction that they will not even be able to imagine |
