﴿قُلِ ٱدۡعُواْ ٱللَّهَ أَوِ ٱدۡعُواْ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنَۖ أَيّٗا مَّا تَدۡعُواْ فَلَهُ ٱلۡأَسۡمَآءُ ٱلۡحُسۡنَىٰۚ وَلَا تَجۡهَرۡ بِصَلَاتِكَ وَلَا تُخَافِتۡ بِهَا وَٱبۡتَغِ بَيۡنَ ذَٰلِكَ سَبِيلٗا ﴾
[الإسرَاء: 110]
﴿قل ادعوا الله أو ادعوا الرحمن أيا ما تدعوا فله الأسماء الحسنى﴾ [الإسرَاء: 110]
Dr Kamal Omar Say: “Invoke Allah, or invoke Rahman, through whichever (Name) you invoke — so all the excellent attributes are restricted for Him (Alone)." And don’t be loud in your Salat (Prayer) and do not be low with (it in voice), but adopt an approach between these (two extremes) |
Dr Laleh Bakhtiar Say: Call to God or call to the Merciful. By whatever you call Him, to Him are the Fairer Names. And be thou not loud in thy formal prayer nor speak in a low tone and look for a way between |

George Sale Say, call upon God, or call on the Merciful: By which soever of the two names ye invoke Him, it is equal; for He hath most excellent names. Pronounce not thy prayer aloud, neither pronounce it with too low a voice, but follow a middle way between these |
Maududi Say to them (O Prophet!): "Call upon Him as Allah or call upon Him as al-Rahman; call Him by whichever name you will, all His names are beautiful. Neither offer your Prayer in too loud a voice, nor in a voice too low; but follow a middle course |
