﴿أَوۡ يَكُونَ لَكَ بَيۡتٞ مِّن زُخۡرُفٍ أَوۡ تَرۡقَىٰ فِي ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَلَن نُّؤۡمِنَ لِرُقِيِّكَ حَتَّىٰ تُنَزِّلَ عَلَيۡنَا كِتَٰبٗا نَّقۡرَؤُهُۥۗ قُلۡ سُبۡحَانَ رَبِّي هَلۡ كُنتُ إِلَّا بَشَرٗا رَّسُولٗا ﴾
[الإسرَاء: 93]
﴿أو يكون لك بيت من زخرف أو ترقى في السماء ولن نؤمن﴾ [الإسرَاء: 93]
| Dr Kamal Omar Or there may be for you a house of gold, or you ascend up into the sky, and (even then) we shall never put faith in your ascension until you make descend over us a book that we may read.” Say: “Glorified be my Nourisher-Sustainer! What am I except a man (sent as a) Messenger?” [Therefore you should not expect any of such acts being performed by the Messenger, and you should not develop faith in any such incidents which may be fabricated in man-written books about me] |
| Dr Laleh Bakhtiar Or is there a house of ornament for thee? Or hast thou ascended up into heaven? And we will not believe in thy ascension until thou hast sent down for us a Book that we recite. Say: Glory be to my Lord! Had I been but a mortal Messenger |
| Dr Munir Munshey (We might believe you) if your house was made of gold, or you were to rise up into the sky. And we would only trust your ascension if you brought down a book for us to read (and verify)!" Say, "Exalted is my Lord! Am I not just a human being appointed to be His messenger |
