﴿يَسۡـَٔلُونَكَ مَاذَا يُنفِقُونَۖ قُلۡ مَآ أَنفَقۡتُم مِّنۡ خَيۡرٖ فَلِلۡوَٰلِدَيۡنِ وَٱلۡأَقۡرَبِينَ وَٱلۡيَتَٰمَىٰ وَٱلۡمَسَٰكِينِ وَٱبۡنِ ٱلسَّبِيلِۗ وَمَا تَفۡعَلُواْ مِنۡ خَيۡرٖ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ بِهِۦ عَلِيمٞ ﴾

﴿يسألونك ماذا ينفقون قل ما أنفقتم من خير فللوالدين والأقربين واليتامى والمساكين﴾ [البَقَرَة: 215]
| Dr Kamal Omar They ask you what they should spend (in the way of Allah). Say: whatever you spend out of (your) possessions — so (it is) for parents and close relations and the weaker class of people and those in need and who has become penniless while in travel. And whatever good you do, then indeed, Allah is fully Aware of it |
| Dr Laleh Bakhtiar They ask thee what they should spend. Say: Whatever you spent for good is for the ones who are your parents and the nearest kin and the orphans and the needy and the traveler of the way. And whatever good you accomplish, then, truly, God is Knowing of it |
| Dr Munir Munshey They ask you as to what (and on whom) should they spend. Say, "Whatever good you do (and the money you spare) should (first) be for your parents and the near ones, and (then) for the orphans, the needy and the wayfarers. Indeed, Allah knows well whatever good you do |
