﴿لَاهِيَةٗ قُلُوبُهُمۡۗ وَأَسَرُّواْ ٱلنَّجۡوَى ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ هَلۡ هَٰذَآ إِلَّا بَشَرٞ مِّثۡلُكُمۡۖ أَفَتَأۡتُونَ ٱلسِّحۡرَ وَأَنتُمۡ تُبۡصِرُونَ ﴾
[الأنبيَاء: 3]
﴿لاهية قلوبهم وأسروا النجوى الذين ظلموا هل هذا إلا بشر مثلكم أفتأتون﴾ [الأنبيَاء: 3]
Dr Kamal Omar Their hearts (are such) that stay in heedlessness. Those who transgressed concealed their secret discussion (when they said): “What is this (one), except a human like you? Will you then approach magic (through this sorcerer) while you do see (its ‘dangerous’ effects on those who give sincere attention to him) |
Dr Laleh Bakhtiar being ones whose hearts are ones that are diverted, and they kept secret, conspiring secretly those who did wrong? Is this other than a mortal like you? Then, will you approach sorcery while you perceive |
Dr Munir Munshey Their minds absorbed in pleasures, the evil doers whisper under their breaths, "Isn´t he just a human being like you all? Will you then, succumb to his magic knowingly |

George Sale Their hearts are taken up with delights. And they who act unjustly discourse privately together, saying, is this Mohammed any more than a man like yourselves? Will ye therefore come to hear a piece of sorcery, when ye plainly perceive it to be so |
Maududi their hearts being set on other concerns. The wrong-doers whisper to one another: "This person is no more than a mortal like yourselves. Will you, then, be enchanted by sorcery while you see |
