﴿۞ ذَٰلِكَۖ وَمَنۡ عَاقَبَ بِمِثۡلِ مَا عُوقِبَ بِهِۦ ثُمَّ بُغِيَ عَلَيۡهِ لَيَنصُرَنَّهُ ٱللَّهُۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَعَفُوٌّ غَفُورٞ ﴾
[الحج: 60]
﴿ذلك ومن عاقب بمثل ما عوقب به ثم بغي عليه لينصرنه الله﴾ [الحج: 60]
Dr Kamal Omar That (shall be so). And whoever retaliated with the like with what he was inflicted (and) afterwards was put to injustice in addition to it, surely Allah will help him. Verily, Allah indeed is Oft-Pardoning, Oft-Forgiving |
Dr Laleh Bakhtiar That is so! And whoever chastises for injustice with the like of what he was chastised, and, again, suffered an injustice, God will, certainly, help him. Truly, God is Pardoning, Forgiving |
Dr Munir Munshey If anyone retaliates because he was wronged unjustly, and seeks damages proportionate to his suffering (then he is justified), and if he is wronged again, then (he will find that) Allah will definitely assist him. Allah is indeed Oft-pardoning and much Forgiving |

George Sale This is so. Whoever shall take a vengeance equal to the injury which hath been done him, and shall afterwards be unjustly treated; verily God will assist him: For God is merciful, and ready to forgive |
Maududi That indeed is so, as for him who retaliates in proportion to the excess committed against him, and is thereafter again subjected to transgression, Allah will surely aid him. Verily Allah is All-Pardoning, All-Forgiving |
