﴿وَوَصَّيۡنَا ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ بِوَٰلِدَيۡهِ حُسۡنٗاۖ وَإِن جَٰهَدَاكَ لِتُشۡرِكَ بِي مَا لَيۡسَ لَكَ بِهِۦ عِلۡمٞ فَلَا تُطِعۡهُمَآۚ إِلَيَّ مَرۡجِعُكُمۡ فَأُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ ﴾
[العَنكبُوت: 8]
﴿ووصينا الإنسان بوالديه حسنا وإن جاهداك لتشرك بي ما ليس لك به﴾ [العَنكبُوت: 8]
| Dr Kamal Omar And We have enjoined on (every) human being (to remain) good and dutiful to his parents. And if the twain made efforts on you that you commit shirk regarding Me — about that you have no knowledge, so do not obey those two. Unto Me is your returning place, so I shall tell you about what you used to do |
| Dr Laleh Bakhtiar And We charged the human being with goodness to ones who are his parents and if they struggled with thee that thou ascribest partners with Me, that of which for thee there is no knowledge, then, obey them not. To Me is your return and I will tell you of what you had been doing |
| Dr Munir Munshey We have directed man to treat his parents with compassion. But do not obey if they force you to associate partners with Me _ something you have no knowledge of! Towards Me is your final retreat. Then, I will let you know everything you have been doing |

| George Sale We have commanded man to shew kindness towards his parents: But if they endeavour to prevail with thee to associate with Me that concerning which thou hast no knowledge, obey them not. Unto Me shall ye return; and I will declare unto you what ye have done |
| Maududi We have enjoined upon man kindness to his parents, but if they exert pressure on you to associate with Me in My Divinity any that you do not know (to be My associate), do not obey them. To Me is your return, and I shall let you know all that you have done |
