﴿وَإِذَا تُتۡلَىٰ عَلَيۡهِ ءَايَٰتُنَا وَلَّىٰ مُسۡتَكۡبِرٗا كَأَن لَّمۡ يَسۡمَعۡهَا كَأَنَّ فِيٓ أُذُنَيۡهِ وَقۡرٗاۖ فَبَشِّرۡهُ بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ ﴾
[لُقمَان: 7]
﴿وإذا تتلى عليه آياتنا ولى مستكبرا كأن لم يسمعها كأن في أذنيه﴾ [لُقمَان: 7]
Dr Kamal Omar And when Our Verses are reproduced unto him, he turned away becoming arrogant in pride as if he has not listened to it — as if there is a plug in his both ears. So announce to him a painful torment |
Dr Laleh Bakhtiar When Our signs are recounted to him, he turned as one who grows arrogant, as if he had not been hearing them, as if there had been heaviness in his ears. So give him the good tidings of a painful punishment |
Dr Munir Munshey He turns away arrogantly when Our verses are read to him, as if he did not hear them, or as if both of his ears were afflicted with deafness. To such a one, announce the news of a painful punishment |
