Quran with Tafsir_English translation - Surah Fussilat ayat 50 - فُصِّلَت - Page - Juz 25
﴿وَلَئِنۡ أَذَقۡنَٰهُ رَحۡمَةٗ مِّنَّا مِنۢ بَعۡدِ ضَرَّآءَ مَسَّتۡهُ لَيَقُولَنَّ هَٰذَا لِي وَمَآ أَظُنُّ ٱلسَّاعَةَ قَآئِمَةٗ وَلَئِن رُّجِعۡتُ إِلَىٰ رَبِّيٓ إِنَّ لِي عِندَهُۥ لَلۡحُسۡنَىٰۚ فَلَنُنَبِّئَنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ بِمَا عَمِلُواْ وَلَنُذِيقَنَّهُم مِّنۡ عَذَابٍ غَلِيظٖ ﴾
[فُصِّلَت: 50]
﴿ولئن أذقناه رحمة منا من بعد ضراء مسته ليقولن هذا لي وما﴾ [فُصِّلَت: 50]
| Dr Kamal Omar And surely, if We gave him a taste of mercy from Us after an adversity that has touched him, he will surely say: “This (came) to me (as a right due to my personal capabilities and qualities), and I think not the Hour as an event that (must) establish (itself). And (even) if I returned to my Nourisher-Sustainer, surely for me with Him (will be) indeed something extremely good.” So surely, We shall inform those who have disbelieved about what they did; and surely, We will make them taste out of a severe torment |
| Dr Laleh Bakhtiar And, truly, if We caused him to experience mercy from Us, after some tribulation afflicted him, he will, certainly, say: This is due to me. And I think not that the Hour will be one that arises, but if I were returned to my Lord, truly, with Him will be the fairer for me. Then, certainly, We will tell those who were ungrateful of what they did. And We will cause them to experience a harsh punishment |
| Dr Munir Munshey Indeed, after letting him go through unhappy times, if We let him taste Our blessings (and bounties), he begins to say, "This is (all) mine (because I deserve it). I do not think the hour of judgment would ever be brought into being. But if (per chance) I am sent back to my Lord, nothing but good (things) would await me there from Him." We would certainly relate to them everything they are (now) doing. We would definitely make them taste the worst of the punishment |
| Edward Henry Palmer But if we make him taste mercy from us after distress has touched him he will surely say, 'This is for me, and I do not think the Hour is imminent; and if I be brought back to my Lord, verily, I shall surely have good with Him;' but we will inform those who misbelieve of what they have done, and we will surely make them taste wretched torment |
| Farook Malik And if, after affliction, We vouchsafe him a favor from Ourself, he is sure to say: "I deserve this, I do not think that the Hour will ever come; and even if I am brought back to my Lord, I would still get good treatment from Him." The fact, however, is that We shall tell the disbelievers the truth of all that they had done and We shall make them taste a severe punishment |
| George Sale And if We cause him to taste mercy from Us, after affliction hath touched him, he surely saith, this is due to me on account of my deserts: I do not think the hour of judgment will ever come; and if I be brought before my Lord, I shall surely attain, with Him, the most excellent condition. But We will then declare unto those who shall not have believed, that which they have wrought; and We will surely cause them to taste a most severe punishment |
| Maududi And if We bestow Our Mercy upon him after hardship, he will surely say: "This is what I truly deserve, and I do not believe that the Hour (of Resurrection) will ever come to pass; and if I am returned to my Lord, there too I shall enjoy the best." Surely We shall fully apprise the unbelievers of what they have done, and We shall certainly make them taste a severe chastisement |
