Quran with Tafsir_English translation - Surah Al-Jathiyah ayat 17 - الجاثِية - Page - Juz 25
Dr Kamal Omar And We delivered them Bayyinat (‘Manifestly Evident Items’) proceeding from the Decree. And they developed not differences of opinion but after that which came to them (as) Al-Ilm (‘The Knowledge’.) — as internal rebellion being bred amongst them (against their self-created, self-imposed sectarian divisions). Surely, your Nourisher-Sustainer will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection in that wherein they used to differ |
Dr Laleh Bakhtiar and We gave them clear portents of the command. And they are not at variance until after the knowledge drew near them through insolence among themselves. Truly, thy Lord will decree between them on the Day of Resurrection about what they had been at variance in it |
Dr Munir Munshey And We gave them clear instructions about every matter. It was only after (real) knowledge had come to them, that they indulged in internecine rivalry. It was (not out of ignorance but) with intent to wrong each other. Indeed, on the Day of Judgment your Lord will settle all matters of dispute between them |
Edward Henry Palmer And we brought them manifest proofs of the affair, and they disputed not until after knowledge had come to them, through mutual envy. Verily, thy Lord will decide between them on the resurrection day concerning that whereon they did dispute |
Farook Malik and gave them clear instructions relating to the matters of religion through revealing to them the Torah. Then they differed among themselves, not because of ignorance but, after the knowledge had come to them, out of envy among themselves. Surely your Lord will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning the matters in which they have set up differences |
George Sale And We gave them plain ordinances concerning the business of religion; neither did they fall to variance, except after that knowledge had come unto them, through envy amongst themselves: But thy Lord will decide the controversy between them, on the day of resurrection, concerning that wherein they disagree |
Maududi We gave them clear directions in matters pertaining to religion. Yet they differed among themselves (not out of ignorance but) after knowledge had come to them; and they did so out of the desire to commit excesses against one another. On the Day of Resurrection Allah will judge among them regarding what they had differed |
