﴿ذَٰلِكُم بِأَنَّكُمُ ٱتَّخَذۡتُمۡ ءَايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ هُزُوٗا وَغَرَّتۡكُمُ ٱلۡحَيَوٰةُ ٱلدُّنۡيَاۚ فَٱلۡيَوۡمَ لَا يُخۡرَجُونَ مِنۡهَا وَلَا هُمۡ يُسۡتَعۡتَبُونَ ﴾
[الجاثِية: 35]
﴿ذلكم بأنكم اتخذتم آيات الله هزوا وغرتكم الحياة الدنيا فاليوم لا يخرجون﴾ [الجاثِية: 35]
Dr Kamal Omar This (faces) you because you picked up the Verses of Allah as a jest and mockery; and the worldly life deceived (and bewitched) you.” So this Day they shall not be taken out from that (Hell-Fire) and nor they shall be provided a chance for bringing an excuse |
Dr Laleh Bakhtiar This is because you took to yourselves the signs of God in mockery and this present life deluded you. So this Day they will not be brought out from there nor will they ask to be favored |
Dr Munir Munshey That is because you took the verses of Allah lightly; you mocked them. The (temporary and temporal) life of this world duped and deceived you. This day (onwards), you shall not be taken out of hellfire. Nor would you be asked to apologize and atone |
Edward Henry Palmer That is because ye took the signs of God for a jest and the life of this world deceived you; wherefore today ye shall not be brought forth therefrom, neither shall ye be taken back into favour |
Farook Malik This is because you used to take Allah’s revelations as a joke and you let the worldly life deceive you." Therefore, on this Day neither shall they be taken out of hell, nor shall they be given a chance for amending their ways to please their Lord |
George Sale This shall ye suffer, because ye turned the signs of God to ridicule; and the life of the world deceived you. On this day, therefore, they shall not be taken forth from thence, neither shall they be asked any more to render themselves well-pleasing unto God |
Maududi You reached this end because you made Allah´s Signs an object of jest and the life of the world deluded you." So they shall not be taken out of the Fire nor shall they be asked to make amends (and thus please their Lord) |
