﴿قَالُوٓاْ أَجِئۡتَنَا لِتَأۡفِكَنَا عَنۡ ءَالِهَتِنَا فَأۡتِنَا بِمَا تَعِدُنَآ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ ﴾
[الأحقَاف: 22]
﴿قالوا أجئتنا لتأفكنا عن آلهتنا فأتنا بما تعدنا إن كنت من الصادقين﴾ [الأحقَاف: 22]
| Dr Kamal Omar They said, “Have you come to us that you may make us disgusted against our aaliha (gods)? Then approach us with that which you promise us (as a threat), if you are of those who speak the truth” |
| Dr Laleh Bakhtiar They said: Hadst thou drawn near to us to mislead us from our gods? Then, bring us that which thou hast promised us if thou hadst been among the ones who are sincere |
| Dr Munir Munshey They replied, "Have you come to lure us away from our gods. So, go ahead! If you are truthful, have that torment _ the one with which you threaten us _ visit us |
| Edward Henry Palmer They said, 'Hast thou come to us to turn us from our gods? then bring us what thou dost threaten us with, if thou art of those who speak the truth |
| Farook Malik They replied: "Have you come to turn us away from our gods? Bring us the torment that you threaten us with, if you are telling the truth |
| George Sale They answered, art thou come unto us that thou mayest turn us aside from the worship of our gods? Bring on us now the punishment with which thou threatenest us, if thou art a man of veracity |
| Maududi They said: "Have you come to us to turn us away from our gods? Then, bring upon us the scourge that you threaten us with. Do so if you are truthful |
