﴿وَمِنۡهُم مَّن يَسۡتَمِعُ إِلَيۡكَ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا خَرَجُواْ مِنۡ عِندِكَ قَالُواْ لِلَّذِينَ أُوتُواْ ٱلۡعِلۡمَ مَاذَا قَالَ ءَانِفًاۚ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ طَبَعَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمۡ وَٱتَّبَعُوٓاْ أَهۡوَآءَهُمۡ ﴾
[مُحمد: 16]
﴿ومنهم من يستمع إليك حتى إذا خرجوا من عندك قالوا للذين أوتوا﴾ [مُحمد: 16]
| Dr Kamal Omar And among them is that who will listen to you until when they dispersed from your presence, they said to those who have been given Al-Ilm (‘The Knowledge’): “What is that which he uttered just now?” They are those Allah has put a seal over their hearts, and they have followed their vain desires |
| Dr Laleh Bakhtiar And among them are some who listen to thee until when they went forth from thee. They said to those who were given the knowledge: What was that he said just now? Those are those upon whose hearts God set a seal. And they followed their own desires |

| George Sale Of the unbelievers there are some who give ear unto thee, until, when they go out from thee, they say, by way of derision, unto those to whom knowledge hath been given, what hath he said now? These are they whose hearts God hath sealed up, and who follow their own lusts |
| Maududi Among them some give ear to you. But no sooner do they leave your presence than they ask those endowed with knowledge: "What is it that he said just now?" Such are those whose hearts Allah has sealed and who pursue their lusts |
