﴿وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمۡ تَعَالَوۡاْ إِلَىٰ مَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ وَإِلَى ٱلرَّسُولِ قَالُواْ حَسۡبُنَا مَا وَجَدۡنَا عَلَيۡهِ ءَابَآءَنَآۚ أَوَلَوۡ كَانَ ءَابَآؤُهُمۡ لَا يَعۡلَمُونَ شَيۡـٔٗا وَلَا يَهۡتَدُونَ ﴾
[المَائدة: 104]
﴿وإذا قيل لهم تعالوا إلى ما أنـزل الله وإلى الرسول قالوا حسبنا﴾ [المَائدة: 104]
| Dr Kamal Omar And when it is said to them: “Come to what Allah has sent and unto the Messenger,” they replied: “Sufficient is to us what we found (adhering) over it, our ancestors,” — even though their ancestors had been: they do not know any thing and they do not find guidance |
| Dr Laleh Bakhtiar And when it was said to them: Approach now to what God caused to descend and to the Messenger, they said: Enough is what we found our fathers upon. Even though their fathers had been knowing nothing nor are they truly guided |
