﴿وَيَقُولُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ أَهَٰٓؤُلَآءِ ٱلَّذِينَ أَقۡسَمُواْ بِٱللَّهِ جَهۡدَ أَيۡمَٰنِهِمۡ إِنَّهُمۡ لَمَعَكُمۡۚ حَبِطَتۡ أَعۡمَٰلُهُمۡ فَأَصۡبَحُواْ خَٰسِرِينَ ﴾
[المَائدة: 53]
﴿ويقول الذين آمنوا أهؤلاء الذين أقسموا بالله جهد أيمانهم إنهم لمعكم حبطت﴾ [المَائدة: 53]
Dr Kamal Omar And those who have Believed will say: “Are these the people who swore their strongest oaths by Allah (that) surely they are with you (Muslims)?” Their deeds became of no effect, so they became losers |
Dr Laleh Bakhtiar And those who believed will say: Are these they who swore an oath by God —the most earnest of sworn oaths—that they were with you? Their actions were fruitless. They became ones who are losers |
Dr Munir Munshey The believers will say, "Are these the ones who swore by Allah so solemnly that indeed, they will stand by you?" Their deeds came to naught and they turned out to be the real losers |
Edward Henry Palmer Those who believe say, 'Are these they who swore by God with their most strenuous oath that they were surely with you?' - their works are in vain and they shall wake the losers |
Farook Malik At that time the believers will say: "Are these the same people who solemnly swore by Allah that they would stand beside you?" As a result all their deeds will be voided and they will become losers |
George Sale And they who believe will say, are these the men who have sworn by God, with a most firm oath, that they surely held with you? Their works are become vain, and they are of those who perish |
Maududi while those who believe will exclaim: ´Are these the self-same people who solemnly swore by Allah that they were with you?´ All their acts have gone to waste and now they are the losers |
