﴿يُنَادُونَهُمۡ أَلَمۡ نَكُن مَّعَكُمۡۖ قَالُواْ بَلَىٰ وَلَٰكِنَّكُمۡ فَتَنتُمۡ أَنفُسَكُمۡ وَتَرَبَّصۡتُمۡ وَٱرۡتَبۡتُمۡ وَغَرَّتۡكُمُ ٱلۡأَمَانِيُّ حَتَّىٰ جَآءَ أَمۡرُ ٱللَّهِ وَغَرَّكُم بِٱللَّهِ ٱلۡغَرُورُ ﴾
[الحدِيد: 14]
﴿ينادونهم ألم نكن معكم قالوا بلى ولكنكم فتنتم أنفسكم وتربصتم وارتبتم وغرتكم﴾ [الحدِيد: 14]
| Dr Kamal Omar (The hypocrites will again) call them: “Were we not alongwith you?” (The Believers) said: “Yes! But you led yourselves into temptation, and you hesitated (from accepting Al-Kitab) and you doubted, and (your) vain desires deceived you until the Command of Allah got issued. And the Chief deceiver (i.e., Iblis) deceived you in respect of Allah |

And you let yourselves be tempted and you awaited and you were in doubt and you were deluded by following your fantasies until the command of God drew near and the deluder deluded you in regard to God |

You waited, (hesitated), and entertained doubts. Your hopes and expectations deceived (and lulled) you, until the decree arrived from Allah. They shall answer, yea; but ye seduced your own souls by your hypocrisy: And ye waited our ruin; and ye doubted concerning the faith; and your wishes deceived you, until the decree of God came, and ye died: And the deceiver deceived you concerning God |

The believers will reply: "Yes; but you allowed yourselves to succumb to temptations, and you wavered and you remained in doubt and false expectations deluded you until Allah´s command came to pass, and the Deluder deluded you concerning Allah |
