Quran with Tafsir_English translation - Surah Al-An‘am ayat 137 - الأنعَام - Page - Juz 8
Dr Kamal Omar And thus have made fair-seeming to the majority among Mushrikun the murder of their children — their ‘partners’; so that (these ‘partners’) may destroy these people and so that they may corrupt and confuse over these people, their religion. And if Allah had willed they would not have done so. So leave them and what they fabricate |
Dr Laleh Bakhtiar And, thus, made to appear pleasing to many of the ones who are polytheists was the killing of their children by those whom they ascribe as associates with Him so that they deal them destruction and so that they confuse their way of life for them. And if God willed, they would not have accomplished it. So forsake them and what they devise |
Dr Munir Munshey Their partners have even made infanticide adorable for many of these idolaters. These partners led them to their destruction, and obscured (and mystified) the matters of their faith. Had Allah so willed, they could not have done that. So leave them alone and let them continue to fabricate falsehood |
Edward Henry Palmer Thus too have their associates made seemly to many of the idolaters the killing of their children, to destroy them, and to obscure for them their religion; but had God pleased they would not have done it, leave them alone and that which they have forged |
Farook Malik Their shoraka' have induced many pagans to kill their own children in order to ruin them and confuse them in their religion. If Allah wanted, they would not have done so. Therefore, leave them alone with their false inventions |
George Sale In like manner have their companions induced many of the idolaters to slay their children, that they might bring them to perdition, and that they might render their religion obscure and confused unto them. But if God had pleased, they had not done this: Therefore leave them, and that which they falsely imagine |
Maududi And, likewise, the beings supposed to have a share in Allah´s divinity have made the slaying of their offspring seem lawful to many of those who associate others with Allah in His divinity so that they may ruin them and confound them regarding their faith. If Allah had so willed, they would not have done that. Leave them alone to persist in their fabrication |
