﴿وَمِنَ ٱلۡإِبِلِ ٱثۡنَيۡنِ وَمِنَ ٱلۡبَقَرِ ٱثۡنَيۡنِۗ قُلۡ ءَآلذَّكَرَيۡنِ حَرَّمَ أَمِ ٱلۡأُنثَيَيۡنِ أَمَّا ٱشۡتَمَلَتۡ عَلَيۡهِ أَرۡحَامُ ٱلۡأُنثَيَيۡنِۖ أَمۡ كُنتُمۡ شُهَدَآءَ إِذۡ وَصَّىٰكُمُ ٱللَّهُ بِهَٰذَاۚ فَمَنۡ أَظۡلَمُ مِمَّنِ ٱفۡتَرَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبٗا لِّيُضِلَّ ٱلنَّاسَ بِغَيۡرِ عِلۡمٍۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَهۡدِي ٱلۡقَوۡمَ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ ﴾
[الأنعَام: 144]
﴿ومن الإبل اثنين ومن البقر اثنين قل آلذكرين حرم أم الأنثيين أما﴾ [الأنعَام: 144]
| Dr Kamal Omar And of the camels two, and of the oxen two. Say: “Whether the two males He has forbidden or the two females, or over which are covered the wombs of the two females? Are you the witnesses when Allah advised you about this? So who is more unjust than that who invented a lie against Allah so that he may mislead mankind without knowledge. Certainly Allah does not guide the nation of wrong-doers.” |
| Dr Laleh Bakhtiar And of the camels two and of cows two, say: Forbade He the two males or the two females or what is contained in the wombs of the two females? Had you been witnesses when God charged you with this? Then, who does greater wrong than he who devised a lie against God to cause humanity to go astray without knowledge. Truly, God guides not the folk, the ones who are unjust |
| Dr Munir Munshey (Of the remaining four), two are camels _ (male and female), and the other two are cattle_ (the ox and the cow). Ask them, "Has He, (Allah) forbidden the males of these two species, or the females? And does the ban include the calves being carried by the females in their uterus? Were you really present there when Allah gave those instructions? Then, who could be more evil than the person inventing lies about Allah, and leading people astray, without any knowledge?" Indeed, Allah does not guide the nation of evildoers |
| Edward Henry Palmer And of camels two, and cows two; say, 'Are the two males unlawful, or the two females, or what the wombs of the two females contain? Were ye witnesses when God ordained for you these?- Then who is more unjust than he who devises a lie against God, to lead men astray without knowledge? verily, God guides not the unjust people |
| Farook Malik Likewise ask them about a pair of camels and a pair of cows, "Of these, has He forbidden you the males, females or their fetuses?" If they answer, then ask them: "Were you present when Allah gave you these commandments?" If not then Who can be more unjust than the one who forges a lie against Allah, so that he may mislead mankind without having any knowledge? Surely Allah does not guide the unjust people |
| George Sale And of camels hath God given you one pair, and of oxen one pair. Say, hath He forbidden the two males of these, or the two females; or that which the wombs of the two females contain? Were ye present when God commanded you this? And who is more unjust than he who deviseth a lie against God, that he may seduce men without understanding? Verily God directeth not unjust people |
| Maududi And likewise, of camels there are two, and of oxen there are two. Ask them: ´Is it either the two males that He has forbidden or the two females, or that which the wombs of the two females may contain? Or were you present when Allah enjoined this commandment upon you?´ Who, then, would be more unjust than he who fabricates a lie against Allah that he might lead people astray without knowledge. Surely Allah never guides such a wrong-doing folk |
