﴿وَإِذَا جَآءَكَ ٱلَّذِينَ يُؤۡمِنُونَ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا فَقُلۡ سَلَٰمٌ عَلَيۡكُمۡۖ كَتَبَ رَبُّكُمۡ عَلَىٰ نَفۡسِهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَةَ أَنَّهُۥ مَنۡ عَمِلَ مِنكُمۡ سُوٓءَۢا بِجَهَٰلَةٖ ثُمَّ تَابَ مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِۦ وَأَصۡلَحَ فَأَنَّهُۥ غَفُورٞ رَّحِيمٞ ﴾
[الأنعَام: 54]
﴿وإذا جاءك الذين يؤمنون بآياتنا فقل سلام عليكم كتب ربكم على نفسه﴾ [الأنعَام: 54]
Dr Kamal Omar And when came to you those who Believe in Our Ayaat, then say: “Salamun ’Alaikum (Peace and tranquility be on you). Your Nourisher-Sustainer has (Himself) made compulsory on His Self (to do) mercy (on His Ibad) because it (is so that) whoever did out of you an evil act due to ignorance, thereafter he repented after (committing) it and he reformed (himself) then it is that He is Oft-Forgiving, continuously Merciful |
Dr Laleh Bakhtiar And when drew near thee, those who believe in Our signs, say: Peace be to you. Your Lord prescribed mercy for Himself so that anyone of you who did evil in ignorance—again, repented afterwards and made things right—then, truly, He is Forgiving, Compassionate |
Dr Munir Munshey When those who believe in Our revelations come to (visit) you say, "Assalam Alaikum (peace upon you)". Your Lord has decreed mercy (and compassion) upon Himself. Indeed, if any one of you commits a wrong deed (by mistake and) out of ignorance and thereafter repents and mends his ways, (he would find that) He is the most Forgiving and the most Merciful |

George Sale And when those who believe in Our Signs come to thee, say; 'Peace be unto you! Your Lord has taken it upon Himself to show mercy, so that whoso among you does evil in ignorance and repents thereafter and reforms, then He is Most Forgiving and Merciful |
Maududi And when those who believe in Our signs come to you, say to them: ´Peace be upon you. Your Lord has made mercy incumbent upon Himself so that if anyone of you does a bad deed out of ignorance and thereafter repents and makes amends, surely you will find Him All-Forgiving, AllCompassionate.´ |
