﴿يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ لَا تَتَوَلَّوۡاْ قَوۡمًا غَضِبَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيۡهِمۡ قَدۡ يَئِسُواْ مِنَ ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ كَمَا يَئِسَ ٱلۡكُفَّارُ مِنۡ أَصۡحَٰبِ ٱلۡقُبُورِ ﴾
[المُمتَحنَة: 13]
﴿ياأيها الذين آمنوا لا تتولوا قوما غضب الله عليهم قد يئسوا من﴾ [المُمتَحنَة: 13]
| Dr Kamal Omar O you people who have accepted Faith! Do not take as friends a nation Allah has made His wrath descend over them. They are indeed despaired of the Hereafter the way the disbelievers despair about the dwellers of the graves |
| Dr Laleh Bakhtiar O those who believed! Turn not in friendship to a folk against whom God was angry. Surely, they gave up hope for the world to come, just as gave up hope the ones who are ungrateful of the occupants of the graves |
| Dr Munir Munshey Oh you who believe! Do not befriend the people who have incurred the wrath of Allah. Just like the disbelievers lying in their graves, they too have abandoned all hope about the afterlife |
| Edward Henry Palmer O ye who believe! take not for patrons a people whom God is wroth against; they despair of the hereafter, as the misbelievers despair of the fellows of the tombs |
| Farook Malik O believers! Do not befriend those who have incurred the wrath of Allah. Indeed they despair of the Hereafter, just as the unbelievers despair of those buried in the graves |
| George Sale O true believers, enter not into friendship with a people against whom God is incensed: They despair of the life to come, as the infidels despair of the resurrection of those who dwell in the graves |
| Maududi Believers, do not make friends with those against whom Allah is wrathful and who are despaired of the Hereafter, as despaired as are the unbelievers lying in their graves |
