﴿أَلَمۡ يَأۡتِكُمۡ نَبَؤُاْ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِن قَبۡلُ فَذَاقُواْ وَبَالَ أَمۡرِهِمۡ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٞ ﴾
[التغَابُن: 5]
﴿ألم يأتكم نبأ الذين كفروا من قبل فذاقوا وبال أمرهم ولهم عذاب﴾ [التغَابُن: 5]
| Dr Kamal Omar Has not the news reached you of those who disbelieved aforetime? So they tasted the evil result of their affair; and for them (awaits) a painful punishment |
| Dr Laleh Bakhtiar Approaches you not the tiding of those who were ungrateful before? They experienced the mischief of their affair and there is a painful punishment for them |
| Dr Munir Munshey Have you not heard the tales of those who denied earlier? They tasted the evil consequences of their conduct. There is, (in addition), a painful punishment (in store) for them |
| Edward Henry Palmer Has there not come to you the story of those who misbelieved before, and tasted the evil result of their affair, and for them was grievous woe |

| Maududi Has the news of the unbelievers of the past not reached you? (They disbelieved) and then tasted its evil consequence. A grievous chastisement awaits them |
