﴿يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ قُوٓاْ أَنفُسَكُمۡ وَأَهۡلِيكُمۡ نَارٗا وَقُودُهَا ٱلنَّاسُ وَٱلۡحِجَارَةُ عَلَيۡهَا مَلَٰٓئِكَةٌ غِلَاظٞ شِدَادٞ لَّا يَعۡصُونَ ٱللَّهَ مَآ أَمَرَهُمۡ وَيَفۡعَلُونَ مَا يُؤۡمَرُونَ ﴾
[التَّحرِيم: 6]
﴿ياأيها الذين آمنوا قوا أنفسكم وأهليكم نارا وقودها الناس والحجارة عليها ملائكة﴾ [التَّحرِيم: 6]
Dr Kamal Omar O you who have Believed! Protect yourselves and your family members and followers from Fire whose fuel is mankind and stones. Over that (are set) stern and strict angels (as administrators). They do not disobey Allah whatever command He issued to them, and they implement whatever they are ordered |
Dr Laleh Bakhtiar O those who believed! Protect yourselves and your people from a fire whose fuel is humanity and rocks over which are angels, harsh, severe who rebel not against whatever God commanded them and they accomplish what they are commanded |
Dr Munir Munshey Oh you who believe, save yourselves and your families from the fire. Humans and stones are its fuel! Burly and rigidly fierce angels are (appointed as guards) over it. They do not disobey or disregard any of the commands of Allah. (Rather), they (diligently) carry out whatever they are commanded |
Edward Henry Palmer O ye who believe! save yourselves and your families from the fire, whose fuel is men and stones;- over it are angels stout and stern; they disobey not God in what He bids them, but they do what they are bidden |

George Sale O true believers, save your souls, and those of your families, from the fire whose fuel is men and stones, over which are set angels fierce and terrible; who disobey not God in what He hath commanded them, but perform what they are commanded |
Maududi Believers, guard yourselves and your kindred against a Fire whose fuel is human beings and stones, a Fire held in the charge of fierce and stern angels who never disobey what He has commanded them, and always do what they are bidden |
