﴿وَإِن يَكَادُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ لَيُزۡلِقُونَكَ بِأَبۡصَٰرِهِمۡ لَمَّا سَمِعُواْ ٱلذِّكۡرَ وَيَقُولُونَ إِنَّهُۥ لَمَجۡنُونٞ ﴾
[القَلَم: 51]
﴿وإن يكاد الذين كفروا ليزلقونك بأبصارهم لما سمعوا الذكر ويقولون إنه لمجنون﴾ [القَلَم: 51]
Dr Kamal Omar And if those who have disbelieved could, they indeed would have made you slip (off the Path) by (the mischievous glance of) their eyes as and when they heard Az-Zikr and they will say: “Verily, he is a fanatic.” |
Dr Laleh Bakhtiar It was almost as if those who were ungrateful looked at thee sternly with their sight when they heard the Remembrance, and they say: He is one who is possessed |
Dr Munir Munshey The unbelievers look at you with aversion (and animosity), and they almost trip you up with their eyes. They hear this reminder, the Qur´an, and say, "He is really a man possessed |
Edward Henry Palmer The misbelievers well-nigh upset thee with their looks when they hear the reminder, and they say, 'Surely he is mad |
Farook Malik The unbelievers would almost trip you up with their eyes when they hear Our revelations (The Qur’an), and say: "He (Muhammad) is surely crazy |
George Sale It wanteth little but that the unbelievers strike thee down with their malicious looks, when they hear the admonition of the Koran; and they say, he is certainly distracted |
Maududi When the unbelievers hear this Exhortation, they look at you as though they would knock you off your feet with their (hostile) glances. They say: "Surely he is afflicted with madness |
