﴿وَلَا تَقۡعُدُواْ بِكُلِّ صِرَٰطٖ تُوعِدُونَ وَتَصُدُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ مَنۡ ءَامَنَ بِهِۦ وَتَبۡغُونَهَا عِوَجٗاۚ وَٱذۡكُرُوٓاْ إِذۡ كُنتُمۡ قَلِيلٗا فَكَثَّرَكُمۡۖ وَٱنظُرُواْ كَيۡفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلۡمُفۡسِدِينَ ﴾
[الأعرَاف: 86]
﴿ولا تقعدوا بكل صراط توعدون وتصدون عن سبيل الله من آمن به﴾ [الأعرَاف: 86]
| Dr Kamal Omar And do not sit on all approaches (to block them). You threaten and hinder from the Path of Allah whoever has Believed in Him. And you seek against this (Path) crookedness. And bring to mind when you were very few, then He increased you (in number), and ponder what became the final end of the Mufsidun |
| Dr Laleh Bakhtiar And sit not by every path intimidating and barring from the way of God those who believed in Him and you desire it to be crooked. And remember when you had been few and He augmented you. And look on how had been the Ultimate End of the ones who make corruption |
| Dr Munir Munshey And do not lie in ambush for the believers on every road threatening them and preventing them from the path of Allah; and do not seek to distort the truth. Remember the time when you were fewer, and He increased you greatly in number." Observe how (severe) was the outcome for the mischief mongers |

| George Sale And beset not every way, threatening the passenger; and turning aside from the path of God him who believeth in Him, and seeking to make it crooked. And remember, when ye were few, and God multiplied you: And behold, what hath been the end of those who acted corruptly |
| Maududi And do not lie in ambush by every path [of life] seeking to overawe or to hinder from the path of Allah those who believe, nor seek to make the path crooked. Remember, how you were once few, and then He multiplied you, and keep in mind what was the end of mischiefmakers |
