﴿إِذۡ يُغَشِّيكُمُ ٱلنُّعَاسَ أَمَنَةٗ مِّنۡهُ وَيُنَزِّلُ عَلَيۡكُم مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءٗ لِّيُطَهِّرَكُم بِهِۦ وَيُذۡهِبَ عَنكُمۡ رِجۡزَ ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنِ وَلِيَرۡبِطَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِكُمۡ وَيُثَبِّتَ بِهِ ٱلۡأَقۡدَامَ ﴾
[الأنفَال: 11]
﴿إذ يغشيكم النعاس أمنة منه وينـزل عليكم من السماء ماء ليطهركم به﴾ [الأنفَال: 11]
| Dr Kamal Omar When He covered you in slumber as peace and tranquility coming from Him and He makes (rain-) water to descend over you from the direction of the sky, so that He may cleanse you thereby and He may remove from you Rijz of Satan and so that He may strengthen your hearts and He may keep (your) feet firm thereby |
| Dr Laleh Bakhtiar Mention when a sleepiness enwraps you as a safety from Him. He sends down water from heaven for you and He purifies you by it and causes to be put away from you the defilement of Satan. He invigorates your hearts and makes your feet firm by it |

| George Sale And when He caused sleep to come upon you as a sign of security from Him, and He sent down water upon you from the clouds, that thereby He might purify you, and remove from you the uncleanliness of Satan, and that He might strengthen your hearts and make your steps firm therewith |
| Maududi And recall when Allah brought on you drowsiness, giving you a feeling of peace and security from Him, and He sent down rain upon you from the sky that He might cleanse you through it and take away from you the pollution of Satan and strengthen your hearts, and steady your feet through it |
