Quran with Tafsir_English translation - Surah Al-Anfal ayat 48 - الأنفَال - Page - Juz 10
﴿وَإِذۡ زَيَّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنُ أَعۡمَٰلَهُمۡ وَقَالَ لَا غَالِبَ لَكُمُ ٱلۡيَوۡمَ مِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ وَإِنِّي جَارٞ لَّكُمۡۖ فَلَمَّا تَرَآءَتِ ٱلۡفِئَتَانِ نَكَصَ عَلَىٰ عَقِبَيۡهِ وَقَالَ إِنِّي بَرِيٓءٞ مِّنكُمۡ إِنِّيٓ أَرَىٰ مَا لَا تَرَوۡنَ إِنِّيٓ أَخَافُ ٱللَّهَۚ وَٱللَّهُ شَدِيدُ ٱلۡعِقَابِ ﴾
[الأنفَال: 48]
﴿وإذ زين لهم الشيطان أعمالهم وقال لا غالب لكم اليوم من الناس﴾ [الأنفَال: 48]
| Dr Kamal Omar And when Satan made their (evil) deeds seem fair to them and said: “No one is irresistible for you this Day out of mankind and indeed, I am very near to you (to provide you further help).” But when the two groups came in sight of each other (and the encounter was just to begin), he (i.e., the Satan) slipped away on his two heels and said: “Indeed, I stand absolved of you and surely, I see what you do not see. Verily, I am afraid of Allah and Allah is very Severe in retribution.” |
| Dr Laleh Bakhtiar And mention when Satan made to appear pleasing their actions to them and said: No one will be ones who are victors against you this day from among all personages. And, truly, I will be your neighbor. But when the two factions sighted one another, he receded on his two heels and said: Truly, I am free of you. Truly, I see what you see not. Truly, I fear God. And God is Severe in repayment |
| Dr Munir Munshey Shaitan made their deeds appear adorable to them and said, "Today nobody can defeat and overcome you, for I am with you." But when the two armies came close enough to see each other, he took to his heels (saying), "I have nothing to do with you. I see what you do not see. I am (really) afraid of Allah." Of course, Allah is (very swift and) severe in (inflicting) punishment |

| Farook Malik Remember when Satan made their actions seem attractive to them, and said: "No one from mankind can overcome you today, for I will be at hand to help you." Yet when the two armies came within sight of each other he turned upon his heels saying: " I am done with you, for I can see what you cannot. I fear Allah, for Allah is severe in punishment |
| George Sale And remember when Satan prepared their works for them, and said, no man shall prevail against you to day; and I will surely be near to assist you. But when the two armies appeared in sight of each other, he turned back on his heels, and said, verily I am clear of you: I certainly see that which ye see not; I fear God, for God is severe in punishing |
| Maududi And recall when Satan made their works seem fair to them and said: ´None shall overcome you today. and I am your supporter.´ But when the two armies faced each other, he turned on his heels, and said: ´Surely I am quit of you for I behold that which you do not. Indeed I fear Allah, and Allah is stern in punishment.´ |
