﴿وَجَآءَ ٱلۡمُعَذِّرُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡأَعۡرَابِ لِيُؤۡذَنَ لَهُمۡ وَقَعَدَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَبُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥۚ سَيُصِيبُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِنۡهُمۡ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٞ ﴾
[التوبَة: 90]
﴿وجاء المعذرون من الأعراب ليؤذن لهم وقعد الذين كذبوا الله ورسوله سيصيب﴾ [التوبَة: 90]
| Dr Kamal Omar And approached those who make excuses, out of the rural population of the Arabic speahead of state lands (also called bedouins) so that permission may be given to them (to stay out of the encounter); and continued to stay (at home) those who had lied to Allah and His Messenger (without even putting up a request for exemption). Very soon shall reach them — who have disbelieved among them — a painful punishment |
| Dr Laleh Bakhtiar And the ones who make excuses drew near from among the nomads that permission be given them. And they sat back, those who lied against God and His Messenger. There will light on those who were ungrateful among them a painful punishment |
