Mohammad Habib Shakir For those who respond to their Lord is good; and (as for) those who do not respond to Him, had they all that is in the earth and the like thereof with it they would certainly offer it for a ransom. (As for) those, an evil reckoning shall be theirs and their abode is hell, and evil is the resting-place |
Mohammad Shafi The good is for those who respond to their Lord. And as for those who do not respond to Him, had they all that is in the earth and the like thereof with it, they would certainly offer it for a ransom. An evil reckoning shall await them and their abode shall be Hell — the worst place to rest in |
Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall For those who answered Allah's call is bliss; and for those who answered not His call, if they had all that is in the earth, and therewith the like thereof, they would proffer it as ransom. Such will have a woeful reckoning, and their habitation will be hell, a dire abode |
Mufti Taqi Usmani For those who obey their Lord there is the best of rewards; and those who do not obey Him (shall be in such a plight that) even if they possess all that is on earth, rather twice as much, they would offer it in ransom (to redeem themselves from the punishment). For these there is the worst of reckoning, and their abode is Hell, which is an evil bed to rest |
Muhammad Asad of those who have responded to their Sustainer with a goodly response, and of those who did not respond to Him. [As for the latter,] if they possessed all that is on earth, and twice as much, they would surely offer it as ransom [on the Day of Judgment]: a most evil reckoning awaits them, and their goal is hell: and how evil a resting-place |
Muhammad Mahmoud Ghali For the ones who have responded to their Lord, (the reward) is the fairest; and the ones have not responded to Him, if they had whatever is in the earth altogether and the like of it with it, they would indeed have ransomed themselves with it. Those will have an odious reckoning and their abode will be Hell; and miserable is the resting place |
Muhammad Sarwar Those who answer the call of their Lord will receive good rewards. Whatever those who have not answered the call of their Lord offer to redeem themselves, even if they offer double the wealth of the whole earth, will not be accepted. They will face a terrible reckoning and their dwelling will be hell, a terrible place to rest |

Mustafa Khattab Allah Edition Those who respond to ˹the call of˺ their Lord will have the finest reward. As for those who do not respond to Him, even if they were to possess everything in the world twice over, they would certainly offer it to ransom themselves. They will face strict judgment, and Hell will be their home. What an evil place to rest |

N J Dawood Rich is the recompense of those that obey their Lord. But those that disobey Him ― if they possessed all that the earth contains, and as much besides, they would gladly offer it for their ransom. Theirs shall be a baleful reckoning. Hell shall be their home, an evil resting-place |
Safi Kaskas Those who respond to their Lord will [have] the best [reward], but those who do not respond to Him-[even] if they had all that is in the earth, and as much again-would give it to ransom themselves. They have terribly miscalculated; Hell will be their dwelling, a most evil place |
