Quran with British translation - Surah Ghafir ayat 50 - غَافِر - Page - Juz 24
﴿قَالُوٓاْ أَوَلَمۡ تَكُ تَأۡتِيكُمۡ رُسُلُكُم بِٱلۡبَيِّنَٰتِۖ قَالُواْ بَلَىٰۚ قَالُواْ فَٱدۡعُواْۗ وَمَا دُعَٰٓؤُاْ ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ إِلَّا فِي ضَلَٰلٍ ﴾
[غَافِر: 50]
﴿قالوا أو لم تك تأتيكم رسلكم بالبينات قالوا بلى قالوا فادعوا وما﴾ [غَافِر: 50]
Mohammad Habib Shakir They shall say: Did not your apostles come to you with clear arguments? They shall say: Yea. They shall say: Then call. And the call of the unbelievers is only in error |
Mohammad Shafi They [the guards] say, "Did not your Messengers come to you with clear evidences?" They [those in the Fire] say, "Yes, they did." The guards say, "Then you yourself make the prayer to Allah! And the prayer of those that suppress the Truth is but in vain |
Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall They say: Came not your messengers unto you with clear proofs? They say: Yea, verily. They say: Then do ye pray, although the prayer of disbelievers is in vain |
Mufti Taqi Usmani They will say, “Had your messengers not been coming to you with open signs?” They will say, “Of course, (they had come).” They (the keepers) will say, “Then, keep praying” - but praying of disbelievers (in the Hereafter) is only in vain |
Muhammad Asad [But the keepers of hell] will ask, “Is it not [true] that your apostles came unto you with all evidence of the truth?” Those [in the fire] will reply, “Yea, indeed.” [And the keepers of hell] will say, “Pray, then!” - for the prayer of those who deny the truth cannot lead to aught but delusion |
Muhammad Mahmoud Ghali They will say, "And did your Messengers not come up to you with the supreme evidence (s)?" They will say, "Yes indeed." They will say, "Then do you invoke!" And in no way is the invocation of the disbelievers in anything except in error |
Muhammad Sarwar The keepers will ask them, "Did your Messengers not come to you with illustrious evidence (of the Truth)? They will reply, "Yes, they did." The keepers will then say, "You may pray but the prayer of the disbelievers will not be answered |
