Quran with English translation - Surah Al-Furqan ayat 21 - الفُرقَان - Page - Juz 19
﴿۞ وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَرۡجُونَ لِقَآءَنَا لَوۡلَآ أُنزِلَ عَلَيۡنَا ٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ أَوۡ نَرَىٰ رَبَّنَاۗ لَقَدِ ٱسۡتَكۡبَرُواْ فِيٓ أَنفُسِهِمۡ وَعَتَوۡ عُتُوّٗا كَبِيرٗا ﴾
[الفُرقَان: 21]
﴿وقال الذين لا يرجون لقاءنا لولا أنـزل علينا الملائكة أو نرى ربنا﴾ [الفُرقَان: 21]
Al Bilal Muhammad Et Al Those who do not expect the meeting for judgment with Us say, “Why are the angels not sent down to us, or why do we not see our Lord?” Indeed they have an arrogant conceit of themselves, and terrible is the insolence of their impiety |
Ali Bakhtiari Nejad And those who do not expect to meet Us said: why was not the angels sent down to us, or why do we not see our Master? They have certainly been arrogant about themselves, and they rebelled, a great rebellion |
Ali Quli Qarai Those who do not expect to encounter Us say, ‘Why have angels not been sent down to us, or why do we not see our Lord?’ Certainly, they are full of arrogance within their souls and have become terribly defiant |
Ali Unal Those who (being unbelievers) do not expect to meet Us (in the Hereafter) say: "Why are no angels sent down on us or (why) do we not see our Lord?" Assuredly they are far too arrogant of themselves (demanding what is impossible for them), and exceed all bounds (in their presumption) |
Hamid S Aziz And those who look not for a meeting with Us say, "Why are angels not sent down to us, or we do not see our Lord?" Assuredly they have an arrogant conceit of themselves and excessive is their insolence |
John Medows Rodwell They who look not forward to meet Us say, "If the angels be not sent down to us, or unless we behold our Lord. . . ." Ah! they are proud of heart, and exceed with great excess |
Literal And those who do not hope/expect meeting Us said: "If only angels were descended on (to) us, or we see our Lord." They had become arrogant in themselves, and they became arrogant/disobedient, great arrogance/disobedience |
Mir Anees Original And those who do not hope to meet Us say, "Why have not angels been sent down on us or (why) do we not see our Fosterer?" They are indeed proud of themselves and they revolted with a great revolt |
