﴿فَأَهۡلَكۡنَآ أَشَدَّ مِنۡهُم بَطۡشٗا وَمَضَىٰ مَثَلُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ ﴾
[الزُّخرُف: 8]
﴿فأهلكنا أشد منهم بطشا ومضى مثل الأولين﴾ [الزُّخرُف: 8]
| Abdel Haleem so We have destroyed mightier people than [the disbelievers of Mecca] and their example has gone down in history |
| Abdul Hye So We destroyed people stronger than them in power, and the example of the ancient people has passed away (before them) |
| Abdullah Yusuf Ali So We destroyed (them)- stronger in power than these;- and (thus) has passed on the Parable of the peoples of old |
| Abdul Majid Daryabadi Wherefore We destroyed peoples mightier than these in prowess; and there hath gone forth the example of the ancients |
| Ahmed Ali So We destroyed far more powerful (nations) than they. The example of earlier people is there |
| Aisha Bewley and so We destroyed people with greater power than they have and the pattern of the previous peoples has gone before |
