﴿لِّكَيۡلَا تَأۡسَوۡاْ عَلَىٰ مَا فَاتَكُمۡ وَلَا تَفۡرَحُواْ بِمَآ ءَاتَىٰكُمۡۗ وَٱللَّهُ لَا يُحِبُّ كُلَّ مُخۡتَالٖ فَخُورٍ ﴾
[الحدِيد: 23]
﴿لكيلا تأسوا على ما فاتكم ولا تفرحوا بما آتاكم والله لا يحب﴾ [الحدِيد: 23]
Abdel Haleem so you need not grieve for what you miss or gloat over what you gain |
Abdul Hye (This is done) in order that you may not grieve for the things that you fail to get, or rejoice over that which has been given to you. And Allah does not like any prideful boasters |
Abdullah Yusuf Ali In order that ye may not despair over matters that pass you by, nor exult over favours bestowed upon you. For Allah loveth not any vainglorious boaster |
Abdul Majid Daryabadi This is announced lest ye sorrow for the sake of that which hath escaped you, or exult over that which He hath vouchsafed Unto you: And Allah loveth not any vainglorious boaster |
