Dr Kamal Omar If there had been in these two (i.e., in the heavens and the earth) gods except Allah, surely both would have been under lawlessness and disruption. So, Allah be Glorified, the Nourisher-Sustainer of the Throne, above what they falsely attribute (to His Dominion) |
Dr Laleh Bakhtiar If there had been gods in it—other than God— certainly, both would have gone to ruin. Then, glory be to God! Lord of the Throne! High above what they allege |
Dr Munir Munshey The heavens and the earth would run into chaos had there been other gods beside Allah. Exalted is Allah, the Lord of the heavenly throne, far above what they utter |
Edward Henry Palmer Were there in both (heaven and earth) gods beside God, both would surely have been corrupted. Celebrated then be the praise of God, the Lord of the throne, above what they ascribe |
Farook Malik If there were other gods in the heavens or in the earth besides Allah, both the heavens and earth would have been in a state of disorder. Glory be to Allah, the Lord of the Throne, absolutely free is He from the falsehood that they attribute to Him |
George Sale If there were either in heaven or on earth gods besides God, verily both would be corrupted. But far be that which they utter, from God, the Lord of the throne |
Maududi Had there been any gods in the heavens and the earth apart from Allah, the order of both the heavens and the earth would have gone to ruins. Glory be to Allah, the Lord of the Throne, Who is far above their false descriptions of Him |
